No Egg Chocolate Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 3 T cocoa
  • 1 t baking soda
  • 1 cups sugar
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 5 T cooking oil
  • 1 T vinegar
  • 1 t vanilla
  • 1 c cold water
  • 1 T butter
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 T cocoa
  • dash salt
  • 1 t vanilla
  • 3-4 T milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and allow butter to come to room temp
  2. Sift the flower into a big bowl with cocoa, baking soda, sugar, and salt
  3. Make 3 holes
  4. Into one add oil, another add vinegar, and another add vanilla
  5. Pour the cold water over it all
  6. Grease a 9×9 cake pan
  7. Pour into cake pan and bake for 30 minutes
    1. If not done, keep checking it with the toothpick test
  8. Meanwhile, combine butter, powdered sugar, cocoa, salt, vanilla, and 3 T milk
    1. If too thick, add milk
    2. If too thin, add sugar/cocoa
    3. Will harden in the fridge
  9. Allow cake to cool before adding icing
