Slow Cooker Meatballs In Marinara Sauce

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 T garlic powder
  • 1 T Italian seasoning
  • generous pinch crushed red pepper (adjust for spice preference)
  • (optional) 1 T chopped fresh parsley
  • 28 oz can crushed tomatoes with basil
  • 14 oz can diced tomatoes with basil and garlic
  • 7 oz tomato sauce
  • 6 oz can tomato paste
  • medium onion
  • 2 T chopped garlic cloves
  • 2 T chopped fresh oregano leaves (or more Italian seasoning)
  • 2-3 bay leaves
  • 2 spaghetti squash
  • Parmesan


  1. Preheat the broiler and line a baking sheet with foil
  2. In a small bowl combine flour, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, parsley, and salt
  3. In a large bowl combine this with beef and eggs
  4. Form the meat mixture into ~20 meatballs and arrange on the baking sheet
    1. Helps to have wet hands
  5. Broil 3 minutes each side, just to lightly brown
  6. Chop onion and garlic
  7. Add tomatoes, paste, onion, garlic and oregano to slow cooker and mix well
    1. Can also add leftover parsley to the sauce
  8. Add meatballs and gently mix to coat
  9. Top with bay leaves and cook on low for 4-4.5 hours, until the meatballs are done
  10. Serve over spaghetti squash with parm
