Beef and Broccoli

  • 1/3 cup Soy Sauce
  • 1 T Sesame Oil
  • 1 T Dry Sherry
  • 1 T Honey
  • 3-4 Garlic cloves
  • 1-2 t ground Ginger
  • Salt
  • 1-2 t Cornstarch
  • 1.3-1.5 lb flank or skirt steak
  • 14 oz (or 1.5 heads) broccoli florets
  • 3 t Vegetable or Canola Oil


  • Slice steak into bite size pieces
  • Combine soy sauce, sesame oil, sherry, honey, garlic, ginger and salt
  • Pour a little less than 1/2 the mixture into a ziplock with the meat and marinade at least 20 minutes
  • Add a splash of water and cornstarch to the remaining mixture
  • Heat some of the oil in a wok and cook steak until almost done, then remove
  • Wipe wok, add remaining oil and cook broccoli 2-3 minutes
  • Add beef and sauce for another 2 minutes, until sauce thickens
  • Serve over rice
