“Crack”er Candy

  • Spray Oil
  • 1 tube Saltines
  • 2 sticks (16T) unsalted Butter
  • 1 cup + 2 T firmly packed Brown Sugar
  • 1 bag Chocolate Chips
  • (optional) 1/2 – 3/4 cup toasted chopped Pecans or Almonds
  • OR
  • (optional) 3/4 cup peanut butter chips


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Line a 13×9 baking sheet with foil and spray with oil
  3. Lay saltines in a flat layer on the baking sheet
  4. Melt butter in a sauce pan
  5. Add brown sugar and bring to a boil for 3 minutes, until light brown and thickened
  6. Pour and spread over the crackers
  7. Bake 5 minutes
  8. Put most or all of the chocolate chips on top and place back in oven for 2 minutes to melt
  9. Spread melted chocolate evenly (and top with nuts or pb chips)
    1. Swirl pb chips with the tines of a fork for a marble look
  10. Freeze 20 minutes, until set
  11. Break and serve
